Sandy was very easy to communicate with, checkin was a breeze and the home was extremely charming! Sandy is the perfect hostess and even made us breakfast and had treats for us when we arrived! The location and size was perfect for us as we were meeting up with our grown daughters, one living in Chicago and one living in Iowa. We were close enough to Galene, but also enjoyed Elizabeth and didn't get caught in all the "business" of staying directly in Galena. The house and patio were very clean and we very much enjoyed our stay! Highly recommend The Durinda House - you won't regret it!

We enjoyed our stay at this lovely property. Sandy is a wonderful host who warmly welcomed us and ensured we had a memorable stay. Accommodations were exactly as stated, with quality linens and towels. The deck overlooks woodlands and is a peaceful retreat to read or enjoy morning coffee. The kitchen is very well equipped if you wish to cook meals. We so appreciated Sandy's delicious breakfasts; she even catered to my dietary restrictions. The property is appx 20 minutes from Galena (gorgeous drive there) and a few minutes from Elizabeth (great ice cream shop there - Three Sisters Sweet Shop). Overall, a perfect stay.

My husband and I stayed at this location and were very happy. Sandy made us excellent breakfasts each morning that we were there and was very flexible. The place is like a little apartment, which was perfect for us. Galena was about 15 minutes away. We were able to shop and then come back and relax here without any issues. We made ourselves a nice dinner the last night there as well. Overall a very comfortable place to stay. We will definitely come back! Thank you!

We loved this house and its location. The house is spacious so my friend and I were able to spread out and enjoy the porch and separate bedrooms and bathrooms. The decor is tastefully appointed. The location of Elizabeth is very proximate to Galena to access all of the amenities there without being in the thick of it all. We also took short walks in Elizabeth and per Sandy's suggestion went to a great potter's shop in its downtown (buying some pots). She also suggested a fantastic state park with spectacular views of the Mississippi (a real hidden gem and no entry fee). Altogether, a splendid time. Sandy made us a gourmet breakfast each morning that held us till dinner. Highly recommend this b&b.

My husband and I wanted a place of tranquility, not too far away from Galena. This home is absolutely perfect. It is both beautiful and comfortable. A large deck off the dining area oversees a bird-filled wooded area -- a lovely spot for morning tea or a good book. And Sandy is a gracious host, who leaves treats and prepares amazing breakfasts. Five stars all the way!!

A perfect friends' retreat! Every amenity, including gourmet breakfast, a sunny deck for gathering and reading, and quiet, comfy bedrooms helped weary moms rejuvenate. Elizabeth and Galena are just minutes away, and we loved the proximity to rolling hiking trails and charming wineries. Little perks like homemade cookies and appetizers in the afternoon were just icing on the cake! Bravo!

We thoroughly enjoyed our time at this property. We spent 3 nights and the best part was waking up to the magnificent breakfast that Sandy had cooked for us!! It was nice to explore Galena and the surrounding area, but the house was so peaceful and comfortable that we could have just stayed in and been content. We will be back!!

The home and property are very nice and very comfortable. Sandy was wonderful, very sweet and gracious and her breakfasts are amazing! It is a very short drive to Galena and all the attractions. We had a wonderful time and plan on using Sandy's hospitality in the future.
