Love the freighter views!

We really enjoyed our stay. It was chilly & rainy multiple days but we had a good time anyway. Only got to use the boat once but again, that was fun too. Really loved watching the freighters come through & researching them with the grandkids. Owners were vey responsive to any questions I had. Highly recommend a stay here!

We loved this place. I would definitely stay here next time we are in the area. The house was clean. The kitchen was so well stocked. There was plenty of room for everyone. The beds were very comfortable. We all loved that everyone had a comfy bed to sleep in. The host was responsive and helpful for my questions. Most of all we loved the beautiful property. Everyone... my husband, kids and grandkids, enjoyed sitting/ playing on the beach and on the deck and watching the freighters go by! All agreed it was a very cool experience to see them so close.

Commune with nature and enjoy snapping and journaling Lakers, tugs and a cruise ship or two. Wonderful shallow beach for youngsters. We loved it!

We enjoyed our stay at this lovely Sugar Island property! The cabin is as described (kids loved the loft!) and trees around the property give privacy from neighbors. The sandy beach area and clear, shallow water are great for little ones, and we enjoyed use of the kayaks and rowboat very much as well! And of course, the freighters were fascinating to watch. Thank you for sharing this wonderful spot with us!

Our family will remember this vacation for a long time. Young and old were awestruck by the freighters. Fishing was so so but hot weather may have been the reason. Couldn’t possibly the fishermen.

We were looking for a new experience and opted for the UP having never been there before. The cabin is well-appointed with all the essential details covered. Ample linens, washer/dryer (it was so nice to go home with suitcase full of clean clothes), a kitchen with all the necessary gadgets in addition to seasonings and the like. The thoughtfulness of the host is greatly appreciated as Sugar Island isn't exactly a "I forgot something so I'll drop by the store" kind of place. We were looking for remote beauty and we found it here. Despite the remote location, we found ourselves close enough to venture out to Tahquamenon Falls and a few other attractions. We would recommend the host, the cabin, and the island a hundred times over and hope to stay there again.

We had a great time! Location is fantastic. There are neighbors on both sides but not too close, so property still feels private. Beach is sandy and water stays shallow past end of dock - great for families with young children. Cabin itself had everything we needed: kitchen is stocked with dishes, pots, etc, water pressure in shower is fantastic, and there are hooks galore throughout the place. Great for hanging towels, swimsuits, etc. We also loved having a washer and dryer. One suggestion: it would be nice to have a suitcase stand in the main bedroom! We enjoyed watching the freighters pass by, riding on the pontoon, kayaking, biking, and campfires. The only restaurant on the island, The Hilltop Bar, isn't fancy but has decent bar food and friendly service. Sault Ste Marie is an easy ferry trip and has many good restaurants and shops to explore. We had great whitefish at Lockview Restaurant and Oh Crepe and Coffee had delicious food. The Soo Locks are impressive too! We had a couple of questions during our stay and Crist responded promptly and was very helpful. We would definitely recommend this property to others and hope to return!
