We really enjoyed our stay at the Gingerbread House. Located in upcountry, it's the perfect place to stay to get away from the crowds and bustle close to the coast. We loved sitting outside at nights with the cool wind and quietness of the property. During the day, I enjoyed walking around the farm looking at all of the birds and fruit trees. The chickens were very happy to see us as I guess they've been fed before. I was a little unnerved at first as they got really close, but they never got aggressive and were a source of amusement.
The house is exactly as it's depicted on the site. It's small and cozy and perfect for two people. The cedar walls give it a great aroma. Upon arrival, we looked through the very helpful book with the rules for our stay and recommendations for local restaurants and attractions. Coming from Atlanta, we were a little worried that with no A/C it might get warm at night; there was nothing to worry about! The nights were very cool and the ceiling fan kept the air moving. The bed was super comfortable and my wife LOVED the bathroom.
And I be remiss to say that one of the highlights of the trip was meeting the owner's golden retriever, Kumu. She was so happy and friendly and made missing our dogs a little easier.
We'd definitely stay here again!
