Myself and my boyfriend stayed at The Captain's House for a week in early January. The house is very spacious and comfortable, on a small lane just up from one of the main streets. Without being too noisy, it has a great atmosphere with chatter and singing from the chef nearby, lovely cooking smells, and local residents going about their business. If you want to self cater you have 2 kitchens to choose from, one being on the beautiful sunny roof terrace overlooking the bay - as previous reviews have said, this is where most people spend their time and we certainly did!
There is a small supermarket a minute away which is good for fresh bread, and larger ones just within 5 to 10 minutes walk away where you can find everything you might need during your stay.
If you are eating out, there are restaurants metres away serving delicious meals at reasonable prices, and within Puerto de Mogan there is a wide range of choice of cuisine from the simple to the sophisticated. It's not far to take a relaxed wander round and it is surprising how many bars and restaurants you can find, as well as small designer shopping areas and general shops aimed at tourists. For such a beautiful place, it is still fairly quiet, except on market day!
If you want to be more active you can rent a bicycle from one of the local hotels, the Cordial, and explore the area - the roads are quiet, views spectacular, and car drivers very accommodating of the many cyclists. You might swim in the bay, or you can take a run around the palm lined promenades and enjoy the beautiful flowers and plants.
The Captain's House is an ideal place to come and relax and unwind at your own pace. If you need a break to just stop and recharge, it's perfect. If you want to travel, it's easy to use the local buses or taxis to visit nearby resorts, or hire a car.
I would normally like to go on holiday to different places each time, but this was the second time we stayed at The Captain's House, and we have already booked a visit next year. The house has everything you need, and the agents who look after it are easily contactable if needed, as is Nick the owner. Puerto de Mogan has something very special about it which makes you want to return!
